LaCount Law Seeks to Deliver Big Firm Capability with Small Firm Service

IRVINE, California, April 1, 2005 – LaCount Law, which seeks to provide its clients big firm capability with small firm service, recently opened its new offices in Irvine’s Jamboree Center. Heading the firm is Stephen H. LaCount, one of Southern California's best-known tech transaction and regulatory compliance lawyers.

LaCount Law’s goal is to deliver superior, cost-effective results using a low-overhead business model that leverages state-of-the-art communication technology, legal research databases, and document production tools.

During his 30-year career as an in-house counsel and law firm partner, LaCount has represented clients ranging from start-up entrepreneurs to company general counsels. An Orange County-based practitioner for the past 18 years, he has worked both with major corporations and the law firms representing them.

Prior to founding the firm, LaCount was affiliated with Nixon Peabody LLP, a top-100 law firm headquartered in the Northeast. He was previously a partner and member of the Executive Committee at the national law firm of Arter & Hadden from 1992-2003. He is a graduate of Boston University (B.A., cum laude), New York Law School (J.D.) and New York University School of Law (LL.M., Trade Regulation).

LaCount has extensive experience representing a broad range of corporate clients and has served as in-house counsel with a number of prominent multinationals, including Westinghouse Electric Corporation, and Esterline Technologies. In 1987, he relocated from Fairfield, Connecticut to Irvine to join AST Research, Inc., a Fortune 500 personal computer manufacturer, where he served as General Counsel for three years before entering private practice.

He also is a long-standing member of the Executive Council of the American Electronics Association in Orange County and co-founded the AEA High-Tech Awards, an annual Orange County technology company showcase. In addition to his professional and trade association involvement, he is an advisor to the Harvey Mudd College Entrepreneur Network (the engineering school of the Claremont colleges), and a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Southern California District Export Council.

Admitted to the state bars of New York and California, LaCount is a nationally recognized speaker and author on technology, privacy and international trade regulation subjects, and is included in the International Who’s Who of Internet And E-Commerce Lawyers.
