Tech transactions, including acquisition of technology companies, and international trade and distribution matters have been the heart of Stephen LaCount’s practice since moving to California to become general counsel at AST Research, a top-tier personal computer company that was acquired by Samsung Electronics. 1990 marked Stephen’s career transition from “in-house” to law firm practice where he spent 15 years as senior partner or counsel in two megafirms ranked in the “top 100”. The large law firm environment honed his drafting and analytical skills and enabled development of two distinctive national practice capabilities:

• technology transfer and export controls (dual-use and military items)

Stephen is also a long-standing member of the American Arbitration Association's National Roster of Neutrals and has arbitrated a wide variety of disputes involving intellectual property rights and technology-related agreements and transactions.
